Drop the Crotch?

To some, it's enough to call the fashion police. But I think the drop crotch/harem/dhoti pants that have been showing up in recent collections CAN look pretty good depending on how they're worn or styled.

If you think about it, these have been around for some time in Manila. Remember the Indonesian pants that were everywhere in the bazaar circuit?

The Olsen twins Elizabeth and James line has their own version, which looks radically similar to an authentic Indonesian version I found on the net--look at the asymmetrical buttons on the Olsen twins version.

My favorite new blogger, childhood flames, sewed her own version (see left). This girl has serious style for such a young age. Am thinking I can do one using the pant pattern we used in class then adjust the crotch a little the way she did. If I use a jersey-like material and make some random pleats, maybe it will come out a little different and interesting.

Now. To drop crotch or not to drop crotch? That is the question.
