I like Leanne, Kenley (yes I do) and Korto. I can't seem to like Jerell though I have to admit, he's talented and unique. Episode 11 showed Tim Gunne getting pissed (Tim Gunne getting pissed?!) with Kenley.

My Indie/Entrep bi-continental lifestyle starts. Woke up early, had Indonesian brewed coffee and checked emails from Manila and the US on an Apple laptop whose processors are apparently made in Taiwan.

This has happened to me oh....4-5 times already? Since I got triplicates of my apartment keys, it hasn't happened again. But just in case...you can do this (se below). Or just pay P200 to P500 for the locksmith to open your door.
I since discovered this is the best way to live years ago. Bumped into a blog that explains why this is so pretty well: from thoughtfront.com/blog.
Stop.
“I say to you, this morning, that if you have never found something so dear and precious to you that you will die for it, then you aren’t fit to live.
You may be 38 years old, as I happen to be, and one day, some great opportunity stands before you and calls upon you to stand for some great principle, some great issue, some great cause. And you refuse to do it because you are afraid.
You refuse to do it because you want to live longer. You’re afraid that you will lose your job, or you are afraid that you will be criticized or that you will lose your popularity, or you’re afraid that somebody will stab or shoot or bomb your house. So you refuse to take a stand.
Well, you may go on and live until you are ninety, but you are just as dead at 38 as you would be at ninety.
And the cessation of breathing in your life is but the belated announcement of an earlier death of the spirit.
You died when you refused to stand up for right.
You died when you refused to stand up for truth.
You died when you refused to stand up for justice.”
-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Had nice dinner/drinks thing last night with Paolo, Waya, Lala, Karl, Rap, Kaye, Ige and Julia. I had a long, tiring week of running around to the bank, finishing work AFTER the day job and moving stuff from Makati to QC, I decided to reward myself with very good dinner at the newly-opened Terry's branch at Lafayette in front of Makati Sports.
Jerrel wins. Guess who's out? Click here.
After reading Friedman's "The World is Flat," a treatise on globalization in the internet age, I got so curious about his previous book, "The Lexus and the Olive Tree" which talks about the shift from the Cold War into the earlier stages of globalization.

I am starting to feel like Sisyphus* again. Lord, please help make everything fall into place. It's tiring trying to make sure I have a Plan A, Plan B, Plan C....Plan Z even.
Thank you, David Foster Wallace.
"And the so-called real world will not discourage you from operating on your default settings, because the so-called real world of men and money and power hums merrily along in a pool of fear and anger and frustration and craving and worship of self. Our own present culture has harnessed these forces in ways that have yielded extraordinary wealth and comfort and personal freedom. The freedom all to be lords of our tiny skull-sized kingdoms, alone at the center of all creation. This kind of freedom has much to recommend it. But of course there are all different kinds of freedom, and the kind that is most precious you will not hear much talk about much in the great outside world of wanting and achieving and [unintelligible -- sounds like "displayal"]. The really important kind of freedom involves attention and awareness and discipline, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them over and over in myriad petty, unsexy ways every day.
That is real freedom. That is being educated, and understanding how to think. The alternative is unconsciousness, the default setting, the rat race, the constant gnawing sense of having had, and lost, some infinite thing."

Walked on over to Kang's in Leviste to grab some muscovado sugar. Grabbed a chocolate ice cream dessert for good measure. I bought something that looks like this, not knowing what to expect. I already met up with 3 of the Quad girls last Sunday (Quad=my Ateneo college barkada) but it wasn't enough.
Day job slowing down a bit but managed to get several boards approved this week.
had a really weird dream last night which made me realize something. It is a sad realization. Bottomline is, other people's opinions of you matter to a certain extent but only to a point. I realize I will encounter a lot of people like this anyway who, not because of spite but because of circumstances, put you in a box that other people around them create because they haven't found out or aren't willing to find out more about who you really are and what things you can do. I have a part in it, too, though. Right now, all I can do is believe in myself and make things work. Today is another day to make things right. That somehow makes me chipper. Yes, Tim Gunne, I'll make it work.
Whoa wasn't it just Monday yesterday? Days are moving real fast. I need more time. Left work early to avoid having to go through floods again or staying out late to avoid the traffic/flooding/rains.
I think I need new glasses. I have the kind of headache that signals "new glasses needed": pain on both temples and wrapped around the back of my head.
How do you combine a love story with a thriller and not bungle it? This movie has done it. Amazingly well. The New York Times describes it as "“Vertigo” meets “The Fugitive” by way of “The Big Sleep.” An understatement, but describes well what to expect--or not expect. Believe me when I say you will have a hard time predicting what comes next. From over 6,200 entries worldwide, 2 songs entered by my good friend Gino Torres (naks am so proud and happy for you!) earned two Semi-Finalist Awards in the "Pop" Category for his compositions, "When You Smile" and "Tell It to My Face", placing at the upper top 15%.
Just out of curiosity, I checked Yahoo's top searches for today:
Exciting! Issue #55 of high-caliber creative zine Visionaire has a "surprise" concept. So they designed the issue as a "pop-up." Can't wait to see how that turns out.

Socks with holes? Wear them with pride! Especially if they're the kind sold by New York-based label SANS.
